I prefer to imagine that my wife a few friends and occasionally my mom are the only ones who read what I do though I realize that this is somewhat unrealistic.
Ignorance of what real learning is and a consequent suspicion of it materialism and a consequent intellectual laxity both of these have done destructive work in the colleges.
