I'm a hopeless romantic. It's disgusting. It really is. I've seen 'While You Were Sleeping' like twenty times and I still believe in the whole Prince Charming thing.
I certainly can't speak for all cultures or all societies but it's clear that in America poetry serves a very marginal purpose. It's not part of the cultural mainstream.
