Excellence then is a state concerned with choice lying in a mean relative to us this being determined by reason and in the way in which the man of practical wisdom would determine it.
I also don't have organized religion on Pern. I figured - since there were four holy wars going on at the time of writing - that religion was one problem Pern didn't need.
