He has such a patronizing tone and manner and such a sarcastic sense of humor. I found him rather brutal a kind of elegant brutality which appealed. No I think he came pretty much off the page.
I have found that being honest is the best technique I can use. Right up front tell people what you're trying to accomplish and what you're willing to sacrifice to accomplish it.
