In my opinion the most significant works of the twentieth century are those that rise beyond the conceptual tyranny of genre they are at the same time poetry criticism narrative drama etc.
We must have ideals and try to live up to them even if we never quite succeed. Life would be a sorry business without them. With them it's grand and great.
