I think there is a real misconception about Indian food being super spicy. And I know that's because when you go into an Indian restaurant it is pretty spicy. But it doesn't have to be. In fact my husband can't handle a lot of heat. I've had to temper my cooking so that he can eat with me.
People just don't laugh when their family is violated and you don't shrug it off. You band together and you defend together. It's a funny primitive instinct.
We need a better way to talk about eating animals a way that doesn't ignore or even just shruggingly accept things like habits cravings family and history but rather incorporates them into the conversation. The more they are allowed in the more able we will be to follow our best instincts.
