As a black woman my politics and political affiliation are bound up with and flow from participation in my people's struggle for liberation and with the fight of oppressed people all over the world against American imperialism.

You can't be in politics unless you can walk in a room and know in a minute who's for you and who's against you.

Smiling is very important. If we are not able to smile then the world will not have peace. It is not by going out for a demonstration against nuclear missiles that we can bring about peace. It is with our capacity of smiling breathing and being peace that we can make peace.

Everyone has that friend who's every day like 'I hate my nose I hate my nose I hate my nose.' You either need to come to peace with it and be like alright I hate it but it's part of me - or change it.
