Every so often I feel I should graduate to classical music properly. But the truth is I'm more likely to listen to rock music.

It didn't even occur to me that I'm the last person in the world who should play salsa or Brazilian music.

It is so characteristic that just when the mechanics of reproduction are so vastly improved there are fewer and fewer people who know how the music should be played.

Music of all arts should be expansive and inclusive.

People do dismiss ambient music don't they? They call it 'easy listening ' as if to suggest that it should be hard to listen to.

The trouble with music appreciation in general is that people are taught to have too much respect for music they should be taught to love it instead.

I get mad. I get sad. I have all those emotions. But I just like to keep them to myself. I don't think my fans need to be bothered with if I'm mad or sad about something. I should just be concerned that they are keeping up with my music or I'm making them happy with my show.

I believe music should reflect yourself in some way and not just yourself at the given time. I feel that when you die or when you're going someone's supposed to listen to that music and know everything about you. And I just try to get that across.

Rock n' Roll came from the slaves singing gospel in the fields. Their lives were hell and they used music to lift out of it to take them away. That's what rock n' roll should do - take you to a better place.

Lean your body forward slightly to support the guitar against your chest for the poetry of the music should resound in your heart.

I think the drummer should sit back there and play some drums and never mind about the tunes. Just get up there and wail behind whoever is sitting up there playing the solo. And this is what is lacking definitely lacking in music today.

Music is either sacred or secular. The sacred agrees with its dignity and here has its greatest effect on life an effect that remains the same through all ages and epochs. Secular music should be cheerful throughout.

If people take anything from my music it should be motivation to know that anything is possible as long as you keep working at it and don't back down.

Composers shouldn't think too much - it interferes with their plagiarism.

Music should be your escape.

Music is forever music should grow and mature with you following you right on up until you die.

I want people to think about movies and how we watch them. Let them know it's okay to question the structure or how we're sometimes duped into a false sense of normalcy. Most of all I want people to question the old standard practices of 'This is how the structure of something should work ' or 'This is how a character must behave.'

I like to go from mainstream movies to more artsy films. I don't sign on for the money. Maybe I should but I don't. There's always a good reason for doing something.

One of the joys of going to the movies was that it was trashy and we should never lose that.

Why should you have to atone for making big movies?

I think everyone who makes movies should be forced to do television. Because you have to finish. You have to get it done and there are a lot of decisions made just for the sake of making decisions. You do something because it's efficient and because it gets the story told and it connects to the audience.

I would be too selfish if I said everyone should see my movies more than once. To say that would mean I'm just marketing my work!
