What you see is when the government gets involved you run out of money and health care gets rationed.

You know there are people making a lot of money in this country who can actually afford their own health care. We are in a situation where we got a safety net in place in this country for people who frankly don't need one. We got to focus on making sure we got a safety net for those who actually need it.

In mid-May the House of Representatives approved the full amount of money that the Veterans Administration said was needed for next year - plus an additional $1 billion increase for veterans' health care.

I basically believe the medical insurance industry should be nonprofit not profit-making. There is no way a health reform plan will work when it is implemented by an industry that seeks to return money to shareholders instead of using that money to provide health care.

It's wonderful that so many people want to contribute to fighting aids or malaria. But if somebody isn't paying attention to the overall health system in the country a whole lot of money can be wasted.

If you look at things that really affect people's lives - sport the arts charities - they were always at the back of the queue for government money - health social security defence pensions were all way ahead. And each of those areas - sports the arts the lottery - got relatively petty cash from the government.

I don't know of a Democrat - whether they're a conservative a centrist or a liberal Democrat - that doesn't think that it's important to have quality jobs that pay decent wages so that families can support themselves so that they can have the dignity of being able to afford health care put money aside for pension buy a home.

For the amount of money that the country is going to spend this year on health care you can go out and hire a doctor for every seven families in the US and pay the doctor almost $230 000 a year to cover them.

You cannot drive a system that's going to be aiming at preventing illness if everyone is not in it. The whole gaming of health insurance and health care in America is based on that fundamental principle: insure people who aren't sick and you don't have to pay more money on them.

I have not been that wise. Health I have taken for granted. Love I have demanded perhaps too much and too often. As for money I have only realized its true worth when I didn't have it.

The worst thing that can happen to a man is to lose his money the next worst his health the next worst his reputation.

Money cannot buy happiness.

So many people equate money and success with happiness especially in the music industry.

I'd rather have happiness than money. People ask for it. Sometimes when I don't have it. I make other people's problems my problem because they want me to they ask me to.

As long as you understand that you find happiness through family friends and love then money is just a nice bonus.

Money can't buy happiness.

I'd learned how much happiness money can bring you. Very little.

My family didn't have a lot of money and I'm grateful for that. Money is the longest route to happiness.

I was as happy doing theater in New York for little or no money as I am now doing television for more money. The happiness I guess comes out of it being a good job. The success has to do with the fact that it's a good job that will continue.

Money brings some happiness. But after a certain point it just brings more money.

Money is not necessarily although it helps a lot for happiness it's not necessarily the best way to be happy to be rich you know.

Inequality makes everyone unhappy the poor most of all and that is well within the remit of the state. More money gives less extra happiness the richer we get yet we are addicted to earning and spending more every year.

You can have a lot of unhappiness by not having money but the reverse is no guarantee of happiness.

I think money is essential to happiness and right now I wouldn't want to be anyone other than Wilbur Smith - I've had a fantastic life rewarded far more heavily than I deserve. Maybe I'd like to be J. K. Rowling but I'll settle for second best.
