Music is the refuge of souls ulcerated by happiness.

I was really into Black Sabbath but heavy guitars can really be very limiting it's a great frequency and it's great fun to listen to but on the other hand musically you can do a lot more without it.

The Bee Gees who are brilliant I just love great music.

People in my family and camp who grew up listening to rap music love 'We Are Young.' I've heard it play at weddings. I've heard it in graduation parties. It's a big idea and big song.

Pretty much at all times music motivates me. How can I say this without sounding in any way proud of myself? Obviously I've always written songs that are critical of our government and talk about our times. Hopefully you attempt to be timeless while doing it.

I mean just because you're a musician doesn't mean all your ideas are about music. So every once in a while I get an idea about plumbing I get an idea about city government and they come the way they come.

Any good music must be an innovation.

All the good music has already been written by people with wigs and stuff.

If I'd had good discipline I might have gone into music.

A good compromise a good piece of legislation is like a good sentence or a good piece of music. Everybody can recognize it. They say 'Huh. It works. It makes sense.'

If one plays good music people don't listen and if one plays bad music people don't talk.

To get nostalgic about other people's music or even about your own makes a terrible statement about the condition of your life and your prospects for the future.

I look forward to the future - and going into the studio to make new music.

And as I grew older I then auditioned for the Royal Academy of Music in London and they said well no we won't accept you because we haven't a clue - you know - of the future of a so-called 'deaf' musician. And I just couldn't quite accept that.

I've been doing musical theater since I was a kid. And look for a CD from me in the future. I want to write all the songs!

There is still a future with music because people want music.

Why not invest in the future of music instead of building fortresses to preserve its past?
