Think about how much it costs to incarcerate someone. Do we want them just sitting in prison lifting weights becoming violent and thinking about the next crime? Or do we want them having a little purpose in life and learning a skill?

For the past eight years the right has been better at working the refs. Now the left is learning how to play the game.

I was not good in school. I could never read very fast or very well. I got tested for learning disabilities for dyslexia. Then I got put on Ritalin and Dexedrine. I took those starting in the eighth grade. As soon as they pumped that drug into me it would focus me right in.

Learning is pleasurable but doing is the height of enjoyment.

I always found the extraordinary loss of life in the First World War very moving. I remember learning about it as a very young child as an eight- or nine-year-old asking my teachers what poppies were for. Every year the teachers would suddenly wear these red paper flowers in their lapels and I would say 'What does that mean?'

What we face may look insurmountable. But I learned something from all those years of training and competing. I learned something from all those sets and reps when I didn't think I could lift another ounce of weight. What I learned is that we are always stronger than we know.

Twenty-eight years in business and you understand the importance of problem solving and the importance of efficiency because if you don't become efficient you don't run a business well and you are out of business. And I think some of those principles could be applied to leadership in Washington.

And I understand that I testified in closed hearings over eight years because there are intelligence matters there are sensitive matters that should not be held in a public hearing.

But you still have to do it truthfully because that's where the humor comes from. So it's not that difficult to cross over.

All the people who follow me on Twitter know my sense of humor. I sometimes forget the blogosphere will give it more weight than I intended.

I don't need someone with a hot body. He can be fat or overweight and have a belly. It's very much about style and substance and humor interest curiosity and really being smart.

I for one hope that youth will again revolt and again demoralize the dead weight of conformity that now lies upon us.

My divorce came to me as a complete surprise. That's what happens when you haven't been home in eighteen years.

I exercise about 40 minutes a day and I'll run one day and do circuit training the next day. I live in an area where there are brilliant hills and mountains so I get a good hill run with my dog. I get so frustrated when people tell me it's unrealistic to create an eight-month emergency savings fund or have money saved for a home down payment or pay off their $5 000 credit card balance.

Those nations have a very great responsibility at this juncture of the world's affairs for by throwing their joint weight into the scales of history on the right side they may tip the balance decisively in favour of peace.
