I certainly hated actors and, more importantly, they hated me.

A lot of actors look at scripts and think, 'How will this stretch me as an actor?' But I always thought, 'Do I want to turn the page? Is this going to make people laugh?'

Most actors really love it, that's what they want to do. They burn to do it. And so they'll read a script and think, that's an interesting part. And because they love acting, that blinds them to the fact that the rest of it is pretentious nonsense, which it very often is.

Actors work and slave and it is the color of your hair that can determine your fate in the end.

When I am cast in a movie where I feel that the woman's part is more interesting I usually start thinking about Spencer Tracy and Fred Astaire. They seem to be the most clear actors when working with women.

A lesser complaint: hair extensions. There are moments on 'All My Children' when half the women actors young and old seem to be afflicted by android Barbie creep. All those thick swatches of lifeless strands clustering lankly round ladies' necks! Like orange tanning spray this is a fashion fad that should be put out of its misery.

But the war on terror as I have repeatedly said in the past and the Afghan people believe in it in truth is that the war on terror is not in the Afghan villages or homes. Its in the sanctuaries it is in the training grounds its in the motivation factors and the money that comes to it.

I know what I like in other actors: truth. That's the best. It makes you say 'OK I'll go with you on this.'

I think Hollywood has a class system. The actors are like the inmates but the truth is they're running the asylum.

Your crew becomes your family and you trust the director and the other actors on the set and it's a very safe place.

David was the kind of guy who was totally supportive of the actors and instructed the writing staff to trust the actor's instincts since after all it's the actors playing the character.

When I think it's good not to say the truth I don't say anything. I don't like actors in general they lie they are liars trust me.

I find I like to work with a lot of the same actors because I find that there's sort of shorthand there and there is this unspoken trust both ways. They trust me and I trust them. And I know what I'm going to get from them to an extent. It's just fun kind of creating this little family.

I love actors both my parents were actors and the work with actors is the most enjoyable part of making a film. It's important that they feel protected and are confident they won't be betrayed. When you create that atmosphere of trust it's in the bag - the actors will do everything to satisfy you.

You can't trust actors.

A lot of film directors are quite scared of actors. They are a bit of a nightmare sometimes but I like them. It looks like cunning but you try to get extra things from them all the time by stealth by making them feel confident so they trust you and you can push a bit.

Whenever I think of the high salaries we are paid as film actors I think it is for the travel the time away and any trouble you get into through being well known. It's not for the acting that's for sure.

I'm so thankful for the Internet because actors and singers and performers now have a way to connect with their fans on a very personal level which I think is quite special.

Ask everyone whether they're an actor or a doctor or a teacher or whatever is entitled to his or her opinion. But unfortunately because actors are in the public eye whether we want it or not sometimes our opinions carry more weight or influence than they deserve.

Actors who are lovers in real life are often incapable if playing the part of lovers to an audience. It is equally true that sympathy between actors who are not lovers may create a temporary emotion that is perfectly sincere.

My strength as an actor is in the theater - I know that about myself. Some actors get onstage and vanish but I'm much better there than I am on screen.
