That was really cool. I got to kiss a little boy. I was 7 and he was 10 and his name is Thomas Curtis. He was the first boy I've ever kissed in my entire life and he was three years older than me.

My family moved - first to Washington D.C. and then in the spring of 1975 to Lebanon where my father worked as a diplomat at the American embassy. My parents were enthusiastic about the move so my older brother and I felt like we were off to some place kind of cool.

It's healthy to have older friends. You go 'Look I'm younger than them!' That's always the nice thing if you can be the youngest one in the room at times. Like if you're always the oldest one in the room you'll start to feel like the oldest person in the world. So get older friends because they're cool. Get cool older friends.

I'm finding as I get older that I'm not much of a believer in redemption. I mean I believe in redemption in real life - redemption does happen and it's cool when it does - but I find myself getting leery of my desire for it in stories (especially my own).

In the Lamborghini I have to avoid certain roads because of pot holes and there's nowhere to put my drink no cup holder. And I'm not going to lie it looks pretentious. I used to think it was cool to like drive it to dinner. Now? Like I really need to be looked at any more.

There are people out there who are older who are cool. I want that.

Well I had a lot of help from my father with the soldering and so on and he was very good at math and was fascinated with computers and so I was fortunate enough to have a bunch of exposure going all the way back to high school - this was in the 1960s.

If I was designing a web site for elementary school children I might have a much higher percentage of older computers with outdated browsers since keeping up with browser and hardware technology has not traditionally been a strong point of most elementary schools.

One of the problems with computers particularly for the older people is they were befuddled by them and the computers have gotten better. They have gotten easier to use. They have gotten less expensive. The software interfaces have made things a lot more accessible.

You know Quincy Jones was a great mentor but he was a man in a man's world. Fortunately he's a very sensitive man and a beautiful human being and even though he was 14 or 15 years older than me he's a capable human being and has great communication skills.

One thing I've learned to appreciate as I've gotten a little older is direct forms of communication.

We have no reason to think that climate change is harmful if you look at the world as a whole. Most places in fact are better off being warmer than being colder. And historically the really bad times for the environment and for people have been the cold periods rather than the warm periods.

But I think it's more that when you're young you're invincible you're immortal - or at least you think you are. The possibilities are limitless you're inventing the future. Then you get older and suddenly you have a history. It's fixed. You can't change anything. I find that a bit disturbing to be honest.

When I was at drama school I wanted to change the world and thought I had some great wisdom to impart to people about humanity. Now that I'm older I know enough to realise that I know nothing at all.

As you grow older you change.

As you get older things conk out. It's a bit like a car. As long as it's something the mechanics can fix you can chug on for a few more thousand miles.

I am endlessly busy bringing up five young kids and trying to keep up with the three older ones. I still spend most of my life driving car pools.
